Possible delays during the holiday period; driving restrictions cause different leadtimes

Weekly driving restrictions are imposed during the holiday season (until the end of September); the restrictions for this weekend are shown below. According to the most recent updates, numerous driving bans for freight traffic will be in effect throughout Europe from Friday, July 25, through Sunday, July 27, 2025, particularly in the countries listed below, with a direct impact on shipments to and from Southern Europe.

Friday, July 25

  • Czech Republic: 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. for vehicles > 7.5 tons
  • Greece: reported times between 3:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m., may vary by region
  • Romania: 12:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
  • Italy & Poland: also rotating times, typically 4:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. in Italy, 6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. in Poland

Saturday, July 26

  • Austria: 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (summer block checks in Tyrol until 3:00 p.m., then regular ban until midnight)
  • Czech Republic: 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • France: 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and night block 10:00 p.m.–midnight
  • Greece: 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. (some regions until 4:00 p.m.)
  • Romania: 6:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.
  • Hungary: Saturday 3:00 p.m.–midnight
  • Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia: periods between 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m./7:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 27

  • Austria: daytime ban 12:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., plus nighttime ban until midnight
  • Czech Republic: 1:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
  • France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein: 12:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. (varying)
  • Romania: 6:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.

Country by country: additional details & exceptions

  • Austria (Tyrol): Saturday 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. additional block checks on A12, A13, A14; remaining Saturday until midnight plus Sunday until 10:00 p.m. also prohibited
  • Czech Republic: summer period applies July–August: Friday 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m., Saturday 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Sunday 1:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
  • Romania: seasonal bans July–August: Friday 12:00–22:00, Saturday & Sunday 06:00–22:00; additional restrictions on DN39 (Agigea–Mangalia) from 07:00–19:00
  • Slovakia: year-round ban: Sunday 12:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.; summer ban July–August: Saturday 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • France, Germany, Italy, Hungary: limited weekend closures on summer weekends (France: Saturday 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Germany: July–August Saturday 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. and Sunday midnight–10:00 p.m., Italy: Saturday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Hungary: Saturday 3:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.; for Sunday jobs until 10:00 p.m.)

Exceptions apply for refrigerated transport, perishable goods, live animals, and combined transport with the correct paperwork.
