Delays in Italian transport due to the A13 road closure in Switzerland.
We would like to keep you informed about the impact of the recent floods in southeastern Switzerland on our transport services to and from Italy. Due to the extreme rainfall, many rivers overflowed their banks and part of the A13 was washed away. This can lead to long traffic jams for the Gotthard tunnel and delays for your transport.
The A13 is, after the A2, the most important route for traffic to and from Italy. The recovery of the route will take a long time; However, exactly how long is still unknown. This can take months, partly because some of the repairs can only start once the water level has dropped.
The best alternative route is now the earlier mentioned A2. This route is already known for its many traffic jams in the summer months. If the A13 cannot be used, the traffic jams there will be even longer next summer. Another option is the Simplonpass.
All this means that transports to Italy take longer than you are used to from us. If you are curious about alternatives, we are happy to help you. For more information please contact:Â loek.vandenoudenhoven@bfglogistics.com
